Japanese banks announce support the MoneyTap P2P remittance service based on RippleNet for top central banks Yamaguchi Bank, Momiji Bank, Kitakyushu Bank

Three Japanese banks, Yamaguchi Bank, Momiji Bank, and Kitakyushu Bank, now support the MoneyTap P2P remittance service based on RippleNet. SBI Remit, the remittance-focused arm of the Japanese financial services conglomerate SBI Holdings, added support of its mobile MoneyTap application to these local banks. The MoneyTap integration enables the Japanese regional banks to offer a peer-to-peer remittance service to their customers through a mobile application. The remittance service enables the online remittance function through a mobile phone number, in addition to the bank account number. The app also features online identity verification and biometric authentication, aiming to ensure high security for customers of Yamaguchi, Momiji, and Kitakyushu. MoneyTap mainly provides international remittance services to foreign workers living in Japan but has plans to expand globally.

Bank of America using Ripple’s On-Demand Liquidity Solution

Bank of America is working with Ripple’s On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) solution. Coins.ph, a cryptocurrency exchange, supports more than 75 payment outlets through Ripple’s ODL, including banking giants like Citibank, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, ING Bank N.V., JPMorgan Chase Bank, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp., and Bank of America. This partnership enables these banks to facilitate cross-border settlements using Ripple’s technology.
